Civilian Investigator

 We are currently recruiting for a Civilian Investigator based in Brixton, Greater London. 

Pay rate: £20.98 PAYE / £26.65 umbrella – per hour (paid weekly)

Hours: Full time (36 hrs per week) – Office based

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

Purpose: You will support our Detectives investigating offences within the Public Protection portfolio. This will include serious and complex investigations of rape, serious sexual assault, child abuse and domestic abuse.

Duties:

• Taking written statements and video recorded evidence from victims and witnesses of crime, this will involve gathering relevant information by interviewing the person.
• Reviewing CCTV & conducting suitable enquires as directed, including house to house.
• Ensuring vulnerability is identified in persons involved in investigations and ensure the appropriate support is provided, including regular updates as to the ongoing progression of investigation.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Children and Adult’s Social Care, health and education, as appropriate.
• Assisting in the gathering of evidence by reviewing and collating documentary evidence relating to the investigation, including third party material.

Key Criteria:

• We are looking for former Officers or Detectives with the following skills and experience;
• PIP2 accreditation is desirable, however, an investigative background, including experience of compiling files (preferably of an investigative nature) and previous experience in dealing with people (in particular statement taking and in victim interviewing techniques) is essential.
• Knowledge of criminal law and Police procedures.
• The ability to appraise, evaluate, collate and present information/evidence obtained, in order to ensure that all relevant information/evidence is at hand and is of a high standard.
• The ability to communicate effectively (commensurate with the grade and requirements of the post) with managers, members of staff (at all levels) and members of the public.
