We are currently recruiting for PIP2 Investigators based in Greater London.
Pay rate: £20.98 PAYE / £27.18 umbrella – per hour (paid weekly)
Hours: Full time – Monday – Friday (40 hrs per week – can start and finish anytime between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM) Condensed hours may be considered (minimum 4 days per week) – Office based
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing
Purpose: To investigate serious and complex crimes safely and effectively, placing victims at the centre of all actions and decisions. The role involves using a range of investigative approaches to gather material, assess risk, and achieve appropriate outcomes in line with legislation and organisational priorities.
Duties:
- Develop proportionate investigation plans and strategies, prioritising lines of enquiry and resource allocation across force, regional or national levels.
- Collect, secure, and preserve material, intelligence, and evidence from multiple sources, ensuring continuity and evidential integrity
- Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with PACE and investigative standards, generating additional lines of enquiry where necessary.
- Exercise designated powers under the Police Reform Act, including search, seizure, and arrest, applying necessity tests and safeguarding principles.
- Complete risk and needs assessments, formulate victim strategies, and liaise with victim care units to ensure safety and wellbeing.
- Prepare disclosure schedules in line with CPIA, liaise with CPS and legal representatives, and manage case files through to court presentation.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns, particularly in cases involving vulnerable adults, children, domestic abuse, and sexual offences.
Essential Criteria:
- PIP2 or Detective or equivalent experience
- Completion of relevant training and continuous professional development (CPD) as per force and College of Policing standards.
- Detective-level experience essential within the last 5 years.
