We are currently recruiting for a Category Analyst in Putney.
Pay rate: PAYE 25.00 per hour.
Hours: The shift patterns can include an early (0700-1500hrs), mid (flexible start between 8-10am and finish between 1600-1800hrs) and late (1100 – 1900hrs) – no weekends.

Purpose:
The role holder will provide analytical support collaboratively as part of a team of analysts, researchers and police officers working under the Strategic Intelligence and Briefing Team (SIB). The post holder will assist with the assessment, briefing and coordination of the flow of intelligence relating to aggravated activism, strategic protest, and significant public order events across the United Kingdom (UK) to identify and mitigate risk, harm and threat. They will play a key role in the creation of the national Public Order Public Safety Risk Assessment through the strategic analysis of risk and emerging threats. The role holder will also use various analytical techniques to provide insight into protest groups and the threats they pose to UK policing. There may also be a requirement to use analysis to support the proactive development of intelligence for public order and public safety risk.
Duties:
- Establish the requirements of key stakeholders to ensure that these are met.
- Collect and evaluate data and information for the creation of collection plans (from a national strategic perspective) and deliver analytical products relating to criminality associated with strategic protest, disorder at significant public order events and aggravated activism.
- Conduct strategic analysis of available intelligence using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret national gaps, patterns, and trends.
- Assess threat, risk and harm and make recommendations to support decisions around prioritisation and resource allocation.
- Produce written and/or verbal briefings and presentations for stakeholders to provide a clear and concise evidence-based understanding of the subject matter and emerging trends. This will include providing advice and guidance.
- Assess intelligence from a national strategic perspective for inclusion in daily briefings for NPoCC and relevant law enforcement stakeholders.
- Respond to both ad hoc and urgent tasking requests and produce bespoke products to deadline. The role holder will be expected to field occasional fast time enquiries whilst managing existing priorities.
- Ensure that all products are peer reviewed and quality assured.
- Brief senior officers and other partner leads as and when required.
- Supervise and direct researchers working in the unit.
- Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies, and guidance relevant to the role.
- Maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role.
- Develop and maintain relationships internally and externally to share data, information and analysis, where appropriate.
Essential Qualities:
- Applicants must have passed the Initial Analyst Training course or equivalent.
- Competent use of Excel, i2 Analyst’s Notebook and MapInfo.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A high degree of self-motivation, personal responsibility, and organisation.
- Due to the nature of the role and the requirements of the different agencies that you will liaise with, candidates must either currently hold, or be willing to undergo and then successfully attain ‘Security Cleared’ (SC) vetting status.
- Able and willing to work shifts.
Desirable Criteria:
- Understanding of the Police Network and local, regional, and national structures
- A keen interest in current affairs and world events and an understanding of the wider government intelligence strategies.
- Previous experience working with a national intelligence unit would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
