We are currently recruiting for a Detective Coach and PIP2 support officer based in Manchester.
Hours: Full-time, part-time & compressed hours are available.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 19:00
Location: Manchester – Office based
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing – 18 month initial contract
Purpose: To provide leadership, coaching, and investigative support to trainee detectives, enabling them to achieve PIP2 accreditation and develop as competent investigators. To support operational detectives in enhancing investigative standards, improving the quality of PIP2 investigations, and delivering effective outcomes in line with organisational objectives.
Duties:
- Provide positive, proactive, and approachable leadership, fostering a supportive and high-performing learning environment.
- Coach and mentor trainee detective officers throughout the Professionalising Investigation Programme Level 2 (PIP2) accreditation phase, supporting their development and progression.
- Support trainee detectives in preparing case files to the required evidential and procedural standards, ensuring prosecution files accurately present all relevant evidence.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to IRT supervisors to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of daily business, including monitoring and supporting progress against portfolio requirements.
- Work with district and departmental crime supervisors to identify gaps in officer performance and development, providing targeted support to help officers gain the knowledge, skills, and experience required to achieve portfolio accreditation.
- Conduct regular performance and development meetings to identify individual learning needs and create appropriate development plans.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day welfare of trainee detectives, escalating persistent attendance, performance, conduct, or welfare concerns to the Detective Sergeant in accordance with GMP policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments as required and ensure appropriate safeguarding and welfare measures are in place.
