We are currently recruiting for a Document Reader in Blackpool.

 

Pay rate: £17.58 per hour.

Hours:  Full time (37 hours per week).

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing.

 

Purpose:

  • To provide leadership, and investigative expertise to prevent and investigate Major Crime.
  • Perform the role of Document Reader/File Prep Officer within Major Incident Rooms (MIRs). To deliver professional, efficient and effective case file preparation of homicide & complex cases. Support the FMIT officers by assuming responsibility for the prosecution file whilst providing advice and assistance on matters relating to the preparation of prosecution files.

 

Duties: 

  • Act as the document reader in HOLMES Major Incident Room as outlined in MIRSAP, working in close liaison with the Action Manager and SIO/deputy to read and prioritise all documentation submitted to the MIR, ensuring that all information and statements are dealt with in line with the Senior Investigating Officer’s (SIO’s) policies and procedures.
  • Graphically read all documents using the Holmes computer system, highlighting content to be indexed and recording a summary of the document. Where any reasonable line of enquiry is apparent, give explicit instructions to raise an appropriate Action, assessing the priority of the Action in line with MIRSAP.
  • Ensure integrity, continuity and efficiency of all documents throughout the investigation and trial process.
  • Liaise with the Indexing Team Leader; continually monitor the quality and quantity of documentation & appropriate level of indexing.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to staff, officers and other departments in relation to quality and content of documents.
  • At all times be aware of developments in the investigation, keeping the SIO informed and through thorough knowledge of the case be able to support the SIO, making recommendations & suggestions regarding the on-going investigation. Ensure a current situation report is maintained.
  • Attend and actively contribute to team meetings focusing on performance and quality of documents.
  • Attend all briefings held by the SIO/Dep SIO.

 

Qualifications:

  • Have successfully completed Holmes 2 course or willing to work towards
  • PIP Level 2 trained and accredited
