We are currently recruiting for a Family Court Disclosure Supervisor based in Manchester.
Pay rate: £17.30 PAYE / £21.94 umbrella – per hour (paid weekly)
Hours: Full time (08:00 – 16:00) – Hybrid role once adequate training/onboarding is completed. Office attendance will be mandatory for certain tasks e.g. 121’s etc
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing
Duties:
- Undertake the Police National Computer (PNC) duties and responsibilities necessary to implement the requirements of the National Criminal Justice Records System (Phoenix).
- Undertake general supervisory duties in connection with staff in the Unit including the recruitment and selection of staff.
- Undertake the duties and responsibilities necessary to maintain the information held on the force computer systems ensuring compliance with Force requirements.
- Ensure all invoicing in relation to disclosure of materials for family court hearings is accurate and promptly recovered.
- Uphold the performance requirements of the unit, mentoring staff where appropriate and monitoring the quality of the work.
- Provide staff and management with performance data.
- Ensure that work is processed in the time scale allocated, prioritising court orders and witness summons.
- Perform any Family Court disclosure work in support of the unit (as requested) and attending at the family court if required.
- Attendance at local and National meetings in relation to care proceedings and policing processes that are involved.
- Respond to enquiries from and liaise with all police and non-police prosecuting agencies e.g. Ministry of Defence, Customs and Excise, to resolve criminal record and prosecution queries.
- Answer queries relating to work within the section from members of that section or other staff in the unit.
- Report any identified misuse or abuse of the computer systems or procedures to management.
- Interrogate computer records and evaluate data in response to enquiries relating to operational policing matters.
- Be aware of police/judicial proceedings and the implications of Data Protection legislation, the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, the Computer Misuse Act, PACE Act and other relevant legislation.
- Research more complex problems before passing to management.
- Mentor/coach staff allocated within the unit in support of core training and recognise any training needs in new and existing staff.
- Review, develop and implement data input procedures to local and national computerised systems to meet changes in local and national standards.
- Provide assistance to other sections as and where required to ensure the overall efficiency of the unit.
- Be prepared to deal with information that is sensitive, and explicit in relation to violence, sexual offences, abuse of children and vulnerable people.
Essential Experience:
- Experience of having worked in a Criminal Records Unit.
- Supervised or assisted in the supervision of staff within a clerical/administrative environment.
- Involved in research/analytical activities.
- Assisted in the mentoring/coaching of staff.
- Competent in using computer systems including Microsoft packages and the internet.
- Dealt with a range of staffing issues including recruitment, training and monitoring.
- Experience of disclosure matters.
