  • Public order policing is changing and evolving – emerging technologies and a growing population make the assessment of risk to public order more complex than ever. That’s why we need experienced intelligence professionals to work with us. We are seeking people who are passionate about research; who realise not everything is what it seems; and who know that maintaining the peace and facilitating lawful protest is enshrined in UK legislation.

These research products will be instrumental in providing an overview and clear picture of key areas of national policing. You will have an eye for detail and a curious outlook in order to search and retrieve relevant information held on a variety of systems.
  • Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting SIB intelligence analysts and police officers by interrogating police indices to develop and maintain intelligence profiles, populate databases, conduct open source research and contribute to the production of threat assessments and briefing documents.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook packages.
  • Confident working on their own or as part of a larger team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (by phone and in person)
  • Ability to organise own workload and work to changing deadlines

  • Able and willing to work shifts (Vacancy Briefing notes for more detail)

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience with police intelligence systems eg. PND, PNC, Force level intelligence databases
  • Understanding of the Police Network and local, regional and national structures
  • A keen interest in current affairs and world events and an understanding of the wider government intelligence strategies
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of popular social media platforms
  • Previous experience as an Intelligence Researcher would be advantageous but is not a requirement
  • An understanding of how intelligence research is used in operational policing would be advantageous but not an essential requirement
