We are currently recruiting for an Investigating Officer in Didsbury.

 

Pay rate: PAYE 17.95 Per hour

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

 

Purpose:

To assist in with the complex investigations held within the DCIU, including evidence gathering in the form of outside enquiries relevant to the investigation, to gather intelligence; assist in file preparation and submissions for use in court; utilise specialist knowledge and skills as required by the Unit.

 

Duties: 

  • Conduct investigations, obtaining and reviewing all the necessary evidence such as statements, interviews, third party material.
  • Assist others with the process of dealing with detained persons.
  • Work closely with victims and witnesses to keep them updated on crime status.
  • Use a range of systems to conduct research, interrogate and up-date information.
  • Prepare reports, complete prosecution files, itemise witness lists and exhibits for court, HQ, PPU and other agencies, ensuring timeliness and quality of the information provided.
  • Ensure property procedures are followed, including the appropriate recording, labelling, and storage.
  • To liaise and work in partnership with other agencies relevant to the investigation.
  • Assist with the execution of warrants and undertaking searches.
  • Where necessary, attend court and give evidence if required.
  • Comply with National Crime Recording Standard and minimum investigative requirements.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of information at all times.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and skills as required by the unit (e.g. language skills; technical skills in relation to PC’s / mobile phones; preparation of information relating to child abuse, domestic violence and other potentially distressing crimes).

 

Dealing with People:

  • The role requires interaction with victims, witnesses, and offenders.
  • Liaison and negotiation with a wide range of external agencies (e.g.Local Authority, Child Care Services, NHS, Fire Services, Mental Health Teams, Driver Improvement Scheme, Department for Social Security etc.)
  • Liaise with various internal departments (e.g. local operational Policing Unit, CID, CPIU and others.
  • Brief and debrief operational staff where required.

 

Administrative Support: 

  • Provide a range of analysis and information from a variety of sources, in the required reporting format.
  • Use a wide variety of systems relevant to the unit to search, interrogate and accurately up-date (e.g. iOps, Holmes, PNC, EPMS).
  • Provide a range of generic administrative and clerical support for the core functions of the unit.
  • Answer and respond to telephone enquiries.
  • Assist in the induction and training of new staff to the department if required.
