Investigation Officer

We are currently recruiting for an Investigation Officer based in Didsbury, Greater Manchester. 

Pay rate: £21.14 per hour PAYE

Hours: Office hours. Full-time, part-time and compressed hours are available. 

Contract: Temporary ongoing

Purpose: An Investigative Assistant for a historic child sexual exploitation investigation with victims who lived in care homes between the ages of 13 to 17.

Duties:

• Conduct investigations, obtaining and reviewing all the necessary evidence such as statements, interviews, third party material.
• Assist others with the process of dealing with detained persons
• Work closely with victims and witnesses to keep them up-dated on crime status
• Use a range of systems to conduct research, interrogate and up-date information
• Prepare reports, complete prosecution files, itemise witness lists and exhibits for court, HQ, PPU and other agencies, ensuring timeliness and quality of the information provided
• Ensure property procedures are followed, including the appropriate recording, labelling and storage
• To liaise and work in partnership with other agencies relevant to the investigation
• Assist with the execution of warrants and undertaking searches
• Where necessary, attend court and give evidence if required
• Comply with National Crime Recording Standard and minimum investigative requirements
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of information at all times.
• Provide specialist knowledge and skills as required by the unit (e.g. language skills; technical skills in relation to PC’s / mobile phones; preparation of information relating to child abuse, domestic violence and other potentially distressing crimes).

Essential experience:

• Detective/PIP2 or equivalent police experience.
• Experience within a Public Protection Unit.
