We are currently recruiting for PIP1 Investigators based across England.
Pay rate: £20.98 PAYE / £27.18 umbrella – per hour (paid weekly)
Locations: Office based – Multiple locations across England & Wales (Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff & various Greater London locations)
Hours: Full-time, part-time & compressed hours available.
- Start and finish anytime between 07:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday.
- Part-time candidates can work 3-4 days per week.
- Full-time candidates (37 hours per week) can work 4-5 days per week.
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing
Purpose:
The PIP 1 Investigator gathers and examines evidence and undertakes investigations relating to volume and priority crime.
Duties:
- PIP1 covers volume and priority crime investigations (e.g. theft, burglary, criminal damage, assaults that are not serious or complex).
- Collecting and gathering material, intelligence and evidence from a range of sources (including victims, witnesses, suspects, open source, intelligence, digital media and other sources of material) and recording and retaining it in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process.
- Interviewing witnesses and suspects, applying appropriate interviewing principles and techniques to gather all required information, intelligence and evidence within the criminal law and the legal framework to help bring offenders to justice.
- CCTV Review & Suspect Identification: Includes facial recognition comparisons and officer briefings.
- Linking offences and preparing intelligence packages to assist arrests, particularly in retail theft and business robbery cases.
- Completing risk and needs assessments and providing appropriate support for victims during an investigation, through the formulation of a victim plan where required, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the victim.
- Preparing and submitting investigative outcome reports, building case files and managing the disclosure of material to ensure compliance with best practice procedures.
Essential Criteria:
- Police Officer/Constable experience within England/Wales is required (PIP Level 1).
- Candidates must have a clear understanding of PACE/CPIA.
- Experience in collecting and preserving evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and preparing case files.
- Demonstratable experience of complex information gathering and problem solving.
- A detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.
