We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager in Exeter.

 

Pay rate: PAYE 395.85 per day/UMB 465 per day.

Hours:  40hrs per week- Hybrid role

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

 

Purpose:

Our client is looking for an exceptional Project Manager to join our Product Migration and Legacy System Retirement (PMLSR) programme. The projects within PMLSR are designed to understand the complexity of the current systems, identify alternative means of delivery and to understand and mitigate for the potential impact of migrating or retiring these systems.

 

Duties: 

– In conjunction with the respective overarching Programme, create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outputs and outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.

– Provide day to day management and leadership of the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. The project that you will be working on from the outset is characterised as a Moderate to High level of complexity within the PDCF.

– In conjunction with the respective Programme Manager, design the project structure and organisation appropriate to each stage. Set and apply appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases and handoff into business-as-usual functions.

– Develop the budget and track delivery within budget, with input from specialists.

– In conjunction with the respective Programme Manager, identify skill requirements; and deploy and develop resources. Manage medium sized team.

– Deliver the agreed Business Case benefits and outcomes. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place, and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case.

– Identify and manage internal stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Manage internal and occasionally external relationships as appropriate.

– Identify and monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.

– Support and apply effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting to the PMO and Business Teams, and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.

– Engage with assurance reviews (1st and 2nd line) and support action on recommendations. Organise assurance processes such as gateway reviews, as required.

– When appropriate, ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.

– Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team. Develop and maintain Project Plan. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors. Agree the Project Scope, define requirements, identify deliverables, and plan the activities needed to deliver the required outcomes, using professional, best practice project management practices and documentation within the project management framework.

 

Essential Criteria:

  1. Extensive project management – PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or APM (Association for Project Management) PMQ Certificate or equivalent project related experience in Waterfall or Agile (preferred) methodologies, with proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  2. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels, managing conflict, negotiation and working in a matrix organisation.
  3. Managing priorities – proven experience of coordinating multiple activities and shifting demands, with the ability to prioritise and simplify complexity, to enable timely and effective decision making.
  4. Strong leadership – delivery-focused mindset, with strong leadership and problem solving skills to overcome obstacles and motivate the team to identify solutions and deliver great outcomes.
  5. Security – applicants must either hold valid or have held UK Government Security Check (SC) .
