We are currently recruiting for a Strategic Violence Reduction Consultant in British Overseas Territory (Exact location TBC).

 

Pay rate: Competitive, commensurate with experience

Contract duration: 20 months (with possibility of extension)

 

Purpose:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to perform a newly developed, strategic role in a British Overseas Territory. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape and develop criminal justice reform and make a significant impact on public safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • ⁠ ⁠Lead the development, coordination and implementation of a comprehensive violence reduction model
  • ⁠ ⁠Chair the Criminal Justice Board to monitor and progress the violence reduction model and wider criminal justice reform
  • ⁠ ⁠Identify key barriers in the criminal justice system and propose reforms
  • ⁠ ⁠Draft policy to support ongoing improvement of the criminal justice framework
  • ⁠ ⁠Convene and work with stakeholders, voluntary and community sectors, and other partners to ensure commitments are delivered
  • ⁠ ⁠Act as a focal point for key internal and external stakeholders
  • ⁠ ⁠Task and coordinate identified priorities

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • ⁠ ⁠Extensive experience in developing and delivering violence reduction models, with an understanding of public health approaches
  • ⁠ ⁠Strong understanding of effective criminal justice systems and reform
  • ⁠ ⁠Proven track record of leadership in driving change and building consensus among diverse stakeholders
  • ⁠ ⁠Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • ⁠ ⁠Experience in strategic direction setting, resource management, and policy development
  • ⁠ ⁠Ability to chair high-profile meetings, present papers, and drive accountability
  • ⁠ ⁠Calm demeanour with adaptability and strong problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • ⁠ ⁠Experience working directly with senior government and criminal justice officials, preferably in an overseas environment.
